Tell us which rooms you want packed and which ones you will handle yourself. Splendid Moving offers packing and unpacking labor with your move, so the packing work should be part of the quote from the start.
You can ask about help with the kitchen, a room full of books or the items you are unsure how to prepare. Send the list and photos through the moving quote form. The team can then discuss the time, materials and moving arrangement with you.
List what needs packing in each room
"One kitchen" could mean a few shelves of everyday dishes or cupboards of glassware and small appliances. Take photos with cabinet doors open. Show the pantry and the items on top of the cabinets if those are moving too.
For bedrooms and living spaces, include books, framed items and anything in drawers that needs attention. Point out fragile pieces and awkward shapes. Photos help explain the request; they do not replace a discussion of how a particular item should be handled.
Make a separate note for items you will carry yourself, such as medication, identity documents, keys and your laptop. Keep them away from the packing area when the crew arrives.
Confirm which materials your move needs
We bring tape and shrink wrap, furniture blankets and wardrobe boxes for use during the move. Boxes and bubble wrap may add to the charge. Confirm the materials and quantities with the team rather than assuming every room needs the same supplies.
Packing labor takes time. For local residential work, the published two-mover rate is $115 per hour with cash or $125 with a card, with a three-hour minimum. That is the local moving service's hourly rate. The exact packing work needs its own scope in your moving quote. Ask for the packing scope to be reflected in your actual quote.
Pack the kitchen in stages
Set aside what you need for the last evening and first morning. Keep a kettle or coffee setup, a cup, basic utensils and cleaning supplies accessible. You can then finish packing the rest without reopening several boxes.
Use box sizes you can carry, especially for dishes and books. A box can be full before it is manageable. Label fragile contents and destination rooms on the sides, where the labels remain visible in a stack. Our kitchen packing guide walks through the room in more detail.
Keep unpacking decisions in the plan
If you want unpacking help, explain what that means for your move. Placing boxes in the correct rooms, opening them and putting contents away are different tasks. Agree on the work instead of leaving it to be decided at the new address.
For a long-distance move, confirm the inventory and preparation requirements as part of that quote. Do not assume a local packing arrangement applies unchanged to a different route or service.
When you request packing help with your move, include the addresses, preferred date, room photos and the part you want us to handle. If one fragile item is holding up your plan, call (323) 645-2636 and describe it before you book.
